The rain has reached Bardheere before the river has.
Our teams assessed 14 flood-exposed locations on 25 September. The Juba is still low, but heavy local rain has already collapsed shelters, flooded latrines and fouled shallow wells in the displacement sites — and the town will meet the Deyr season without its bridge.
The forecast gives a greater than 90% chance of above-normal rain from October to December. The assessment sets out who is exposed, what is already in place, and what is still unfunded.

From Brussels to Belém, our teams take what communities tell us to the places where climate finance, nutrition and localisation are decided.
Somalia's Hunger Crisis Is Not Over.
Following four failed rainy seasons, millions of Somalis face acute food insecurity. Gedo region — already the most neglected — is on the brink. Lifeline Gedo is on the frontline, every single day.
"We will not leave until every family in Gedo has clean water, food, and healthcare. That is our promise — and our record since 2005."

Why Donors Fund Us Directly
We are not an intermediary. Lifeline Gedo is a Somali organisation with staff living in the communities we serve — which is why we reach villages international teams cannot, and why pooled funds and bilateral donors increasingly allocate to us directly rather than through a chain of partners.
Direct access to pooled and bilateral funds
The Somalia Humanitarian Fund allocates to us directly — a mechanism that requires passing UN-managed due diligence, accountability and reporting standards. GIZ funds us bilaterally.
Full consortium membership, not sub-contracting
Full member of BRCiS since 2026, alongside Caafimaad Plus and the Somali Cash Consortium — membership earned on systems, compliance and delivery record.
We generate our own evidence
Our teams design and run their own assessments — 48 market assessments and 168 trader interviews in a single study — and we publish the findings in full, including the gaps.
Sector-specific technical departments
Six qualified technical teams — resilience, WASH, agriculture and livelihoods, health and nutrition, TVET and protection — not generalists redeployed between sectors.
An unbroken 21-year delivery record
230+ projects completed since 2006 without a break in presence, through drought, flood, displacement and conflict.
We Do Not Travel to Gedo. We Are From It.
Founded in 2005 in Belet Hawa and Elwak, with our head office in Dollow. Our staff live in the districts they serve — through the season, through the shock, and through the months when movement is difficult for everyone else.
12 districts with operational presence across Gedo, with expansion into Banadir (Mogadishu) and Middle Jubba (Bu'aale district).
Partners & Institutional Donors
For over 21 years, Lifeline Gedo has earned the trust of the world's leading humanitarian institutions — delivering accountable, locally-led programs across Somalia's Gedo region.
